Konferencija: Turizam i otoci sjećanja 2. i 3. lipnja

Turizam oblikuje povijest otoka Hvara već više od 150 godina, uključujući i Stari Grad već jedno stoljeće. Posebno je masovni turizam nakon Drugog svjetskog rata preobrazio gospodarstvo i društveni život otoka, kao i većinu istočne obale Jadrana.

Dana 2. i 3. lipnja u Starome Gradu održava se treća konferencija posvećena „Otocima sjećanja“, nakon uspješnih prethodnih izdanja 2018. i 2024. godine. Ovogodišnja konferencija usmjerena je na turizam i povijest, s panelima koji istražuju utjecaj pretjeranog turizma, tamnog turizma te međuodnos baštine i turizma, kao i sjećanje na turizam. Uz četiri akademska panela, održat će se i javna tribina te radionica s učenicima lokalne škole u Muzeju Staroga Grada.

Konferenciju organizira Međunarodni institut Pharos za znanost, umjetnost i kulturu u suradnji s Centrom za studije jugoistočne Europe Sveučilišta u Grazu, Muzejom Staroga Grada i Sveučilištem u Rijeci.

Tourism has shaped the history of the island of Hvar for over 150 years, including Stari Grad for a century. Especially mass tourism after World War Two transformed the economy and social life of the island, as most of the rest of the Eastern Adriatic.

On 2 and 3 June, the third conference devoted to “Islands of Memory” is taking place in Stari Grad, following successful previous events in 2018 and 2024. This year’s conference focuses on Tourism and History, featuring panels on the impact of overtourism, dark tourism, and the interrelationship between heritage and tourism, as well as the memory of tourism. In addition to four academic panels, a public roundtable and a workshop with pupils from the school will be held at the Stari Grad Museum.

The conference is organized by the Pharos International Institute for Science, Art and Culture in cooperation with the Center for Southeast European Studies of the University of Graz, the Stari Grad Museum and the University of Rijeka.
