Petra Sahlberg
Petra is a sociologist and educator dedicated to humanizing the future of education with over three decades carrier in education research, policy translation and development, strategic planning, social inclusion and future of education. Having worked across research institutions, governments and their agencies and global organizations such as the World Bank, the United Nations, OECD, European Commission, and more, has given her a world-class view of the game.
As a world traveller visited almost all continents who has lived in Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Finland, United States, and currently in Australia, Petra finds the only real home she is always returning to in Stari Grad, where locals refer to her as “Starogrojka po jubavi” (“a women of Stari Grad by love”).
Beyond education, Petra is passionate about the cultural heritage of Hvar. She works tirelessly on the repatriation of literary and art works by Hvar’s authors to preserve the island’s cultural legacy, which today forms one of the largest private bibliographic and art collections on Hvar.
At the heart of everything she does is the mantra “Be the Light! Bring the Light!” as a testament that reflects her passionate faith and belief in the transformative power of education to bring profound changes in the world.
