Pharos Institute has been awarded €10.000 by the Dalmatian Islands Environment Foundation to address the invasive species in the Adriatic Sea. The project, “Eating our Way out of Crisis”, aims to curb the expansion of five invasive species of ecological concern through human consumption. In partnership with the Boz Life Science Research Institute, we will catalogue, map, and genotype these invasive species around Hvar. The information will be publicly accessible through an interactive database and community workshops, and help local fishing industry and restaurants develop this culinary strategy to protect the coastal ecosystem.
