Basic Life Support (BLS) Training for Island First Responders: Pre-Season 2025
The Project supported the existing medical service teams and infrastructure of the island by providing first responder Basic Life Support (BLS) training for cardiac arrest conditions to apoximately 30 fire and police personnel stationed on the island. Through receiving the BLS training taught by medical professionals from Split and Hvar and in cooperation with the local Red Cross and the towns of Stari Grad, Hvar, and Jelsa, the first responders increased their knowledge and ability to administer life-saving aid to those suffering life-threatening cardiac arrest conditions if emergency medical teams cannot immediately respond. The project anticipates that this training course will bolster the island’s capacity to respond to and administer life support emergency procedures when needed and hopefully provide enhanced medical outcomes if required.
